For many, the winter Olympics is not another sporting event. It is a collaboration of many athletes from all around the world coming together to compete for medals in a wide variety of winter sporting events. This year the winter Olympics will be held in Vancouver B.C. in front of a crowded audience of over 55,000 people. The 2010 winter Olympics opening ceremony will begin on Friday, February 12, 2010 at Vancouver’s BC palace when the Canadian Prime Minister speaks with the president of the International Olympic Committee followed by a flag presentation of each country by selected athletes. The flag bearer for the United States will be Mark Grimmette. The 39-year-old two time metal winner will lead 216 American athletes in the opening ceremony.
