Residential vertical wind turbines and solar panels designs for the home – Energy Star tax credit, incentives, tax breaks increases interest

by admin on July 9, 2010

Many Americans are looking into the installation of solar panels for the home and vertical wind turbines as they discover some of the great tax credits, breaks and incentives such as the Energy Star tax credit.

As an effort decrease Americans dependency on commercially produced electricity, several incentives are being offered from both the federal government and several states. These incentives help to offset the sometimes high cost associated with installing a home wind or solar energy system. The state of California is a huge advocate of solar energy for the home as they continue their quest to place 1 million solar panels on the homes of California residents.

Before you pick up the phone and place have a system installed in your home, you will first want to consider the cost when compared to the benefits of owning a home energy system. Take a look over you past electric bills and determine the amount of energy that you typically consume each month. Use this number to gauge the amount of energy that you are interested in producing. Once you have decided how much energy you are interested in producing, start shopping around.

After you find a system the meets your energy needs, find a break even point, taking into consideration tax and incentive savings. Find the break even point in years and use this to determine whether or not you will live in your home long enough to enjoy the savings. If not, the system could appeal to potential buyers and increase the value of your home.
