by admin on July 30, 2010

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to totally fall off the power grid? Well many Americans are experiencing this as they discover wind power and solar panels for the home. Solar and wind power have been making a huge appearance lately as several tax breaks, incentives and credits are currently being offered.

Perhaps the most widely known tax credit is the energy star tax credit. This tax credit allows homeowners to claim a credit for 30% of the cost of their new energy star systems. Many Americans who would have otherwise not installed an energy system in their home are now doing so because it have become more affordable with this credit.

There are several other incentives available from each individual state. Some of these credits are for solar energy while others are for wind power. Check with your state to see how installing a home energy system can be beneficial to you. Between the state and federal incentives, you can literally save thousands of dollars on a new system, making it well worth it.

When deciding on a system, first examine your current power usage. The amount of electricity that you use is available through your power company or can be seen on your electric bill. Use this as a guide when shopping for a home energy system
