One popular tax credit is the energy star tax credit which gives homeowners a fully refundable deposit for 30% of the cost of their system. The energy star tax credit can be claimed on your taxes until 2015.

Selecting a system involves knowing your energy demand. Contact your electricity company and ask about your monthly energy usage. Examine your highest months and the 12 month average. Use this number when shopping around for a system. When it comes to installing a system, you can either supplement your use and continue to use your energy provider or your can become energy independent. Becoming energy independent can be expensive so many homeowners supplement their power.
